Patients who are experiencing discomfort, oral health problems, reduced oral function, or compromised aesthetics as a result of misaligned teeth are likely good candidates for Invisalign® treatment. Amongst patients in San Francisco, Invisalign® is known as “invisible braces” because it allows patients to experience the results of traditional braces without the metal brackets and wires that make braces stand out. Instead, this treatment uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to slowly shift the teeth into correct alignment. What’s more, these aligners can even be removed to make eating and oral hygiene even easier for patients.
Cosmetic dentist Kevin Growney finds that many of his patients are eager to experience this more comfortable and more convenient orthodontic treatment. However, as with all dental treatments, patients must first consider Invisalign® prices and payment options. Dr. Growney and his staff are happy to walk patients through the costs of Invisalign® treatment, as well as explore payment options that will help make this treatment affordable for patients.
All orthodontic treatments require multiple visits and treatment over an extended period of time (often around 18 months). As such, orthodontic treatment can be pricey. When compared to treatment with traditional braces, Invisalign® prices are comparable to those of traditional braces. There will be many factors that affect the final cost of Invisalign® treatment, including the extent of repair that is required and the length of treatment that is necessary to obtain the desired results. Invisalign® treatment can cost as little as $3,500 and upwards of $8,000. Based on each patient’s needs, Dr. Growney and his staff can determine the cost of Invisalign® treatment. The national average cost of Invisalign® treatment in the United States is $5,000.
Dr. Growney understands that $5,000 is a significant amount of money and will require most patients to do some financial planning. His staff is experienced in working with dental insurance, FSAs, and other financing options. They are happy to help patients navigate payment options in order to make Invisalign® treatment an affordable option.
- Insurance: Dental insurance is always the first payment option to explore. Most insurance companies look at Invisalign® as any other orthodontic treatment. As such, most insurance will pay Invisalign® treatment in part. If a patient is unsure of insurance coverage, Dr. Growney’s staff is happy to work directly with the insurer to determine applicable coverage.
- Flex Spending Account (FSA): Many employers now offer FSAs. This is a program that allows employees to set aside a pre-determined portion of their paycheck (before taxes) in order to cover medical expenses. Because Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment, it is approved for the use of most flex spending accounts.
- Financing: Any portion of the cost of treatment that is not covered by insurance or an FSA can be covered by additional financing options. Dr. Growney’s staff can help patients find suitable financing that will fit their budget. Typical financing options include medical or personal loans or credit cards.
